This year, the Living Rainforest was pleased to receive 885 entries from 59 countries!

The Prize Winners of the 2011-12 International Schools Essay Competition are listed below.

Primary Schools Category (Ages 7-11)

308 essays were received

1st Place – Popova Marina (Davydovskaya Gymnasium, Russia)

2nd Place – Nourhan Meddah (Millbank School, UK)

3rd Place – Kehkashan Basu (The Millennium School, Dubai, UAE)

Secondary Schools Category (Ages 11-16)

577 essays were received

1st Place – Nardos Tilahun (Auckland Girls Grammar School, New Zealand)

Nardos Tilahun also won the Grand Prize trip to attend the Rio+20 Earth Summit in Brazil in June 2012, with her Teacher Champion and parental guardian.

2nd Place – Theo Toaldo (The Oratory School, UK)

3rd Place – Ksenia Bashlykova (School Gymnasium #6, Kazakhstan)
