Bill Rees,Eco-Footprints and the Ecosphere
A Trust for Sustainable Living Interview for Thought Leaders / International Institute for Sustainable Development – Information Centre.
In this interview, we explore the origins and evolution of the ‘ecological footprint’ concept from the unique perspective of its co-creator, Professor Bill Rees at the University of British Columbia. Following the publication of Our Ecological Footprint: Reducing Human Impact on the Earth about fifteen years ago in 1996, the eco-footprint idea seemed to ‘go viral’. Eco-footprint analysis is now being adopted or studied by more and more governments around the world.
Karl Hansen caught up with Professor Rees at the Footprint Forum 2010 in Colle di Val d’Elsa near Siena, Italy in June 2010 to discuss ’all things eco-footprint’.
