From Jungle Juice to a Little White Pill

Visitors to The Living Rainforest will soon be able to spot tropical house plants with healing powers, as they are guided through the glasshouses on a new ‘Rainforest Medicines’ tour, generously supported by the Clore Duffield Foundation.

With funding from the Clore Duffield Foundation, The Living Rainforest has been able to extend its education programme to include a tour which puts medicine into a wider social, cultural and economic context. The tour will launch in September 2003, and will follow on from the ‘Sustainable Future’ tour which was launched last year in Autumn, further exploring humanity’s relationship with nature.

Visitors will learn about plants and animals which form the basis of modern and traditional healthcare throughout the world. Schools and groups can book a guided tour, while other visitors will benefit from new permanent in-house interpretation.
