The Living Rainforest is open daily, with the exception of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
We open at 10am and close at 5.00pm. Last visitors are admitted at 4.30pm each day.
Location and directions
The Living Rainforest is approximately 45 minutes from west London, 1 hour from Bristol and 30 minutes from Oxford. You can follow brown tourist signs from the A34 / M4 Junction 13 intersection, which is just 10 minutes’ drive away.
A bus service from Newbury operates direct to the centre six days a week, and from Pangbourne five days a week. Find out more about visiting us by public transport..
Please ‘Gift Aid’ your admission and help The Living Rainforest. Gift Aid is a scheme to encourage individuals and businesses to donate more money to charity. Under the scheme, UK charities can claim back the basic rate tax already paid on gifts of money received from individuals who pay or have paid UK tax. Currently this means that if you Gift Aid your admission, the government will give us an extra 25% on top of your donation. It makes a substantial difference to charities such as The Living Rainforest.

Access for all
The Living Rainforest is fully wheelchair accessible. The centre is family and baby friendly, with nappy-changing and bottle warming facilities available.
We regret that assistance dogs are not allowed inside the greenhouses, as the presence of dogs is very stressful for all our animals, free ranging and captive. The collection is disease controlled and worm tested on a regular basis; the presence of a non-quarantined animal in the greenhouses will significantly increase the risk of disease transfer. Assistance dogs are allowed in the cafe and shop on a lead. We do not allow dogs in the children’s play area and picnic area.
