Escape to the Peruvian Amazon!

Don’t miss this fascinating illustrated talk by Huayqui Ocean, president of the Otorongo Holistic Ecology Centre, when he visits The Living Rainforest to share his experiences of life in the Amazon Rainforest.

Huayqui’s centre, located in north-eastern Peru, is responsible for protecting 24,000 acres of primary rainforest. The region is home to the great Otorongo jaguar (Pantera onca).

He is leading an international campaign against a plan to convert the lands of 27 indigenous communities into an oil extraction zone. He recently delivered a petition to the president of Peru, Alejandro Toledo.

Huayqui expects to be at The Living Rainforest for much of the the weekend 28/29 December 2002. He will present a talk and slide show at 1.30pm each day. He also plans to perform music from his native land.

All are welcome to attend. There is no extra charge for the illustrated talk, as it is included in the normal admission price.
