Explore Palm Oil this Half Term (Oct 2011)

Danau Sentarum, a flooded forest and national park in Indonesia, is threatened by encroaching oil palm plantations

Learn more about palm oil and South-east Asian rainforests during Half Term at the Living Rainforest, starting Saturday 22nd October 2011.

We’re planning a host of exciting activities for the whole family to enjoy, including:

  • Palm oil treasure hunt
  • Palm oil taste test
  • Asian animal quiz
  • Play your conservation cards right: Palm Oil edition
  • Palm oil product information

While we can’t offer you a palm tree lined beach this half term, we’ll do our level best to give you a palm tree filled holiday outing – and some useful information to help navigate retailers’ claims about palm oil and support our visitors in making informed shopping decisions.

‘Explore Palm Oil’ half-term builds on our ‘Explore Conservation’ summer events programme which saw record attendance figures at the Living Rainforest.

For further information, including event topics and times, please check our online Events Calendar around two weeks prior to your visit.

We hope to see you this October (2011 only)!
